Background of the Study
Political advertising has become a powerful tool in shaping public opinion and influencing electoral outcomes. In Nigeria, where gender disparities in political participation are prevalent, political advertising can be a key driver in encouraging women to engage in leadership roles. In Igabi LGA, Kaduna State, political advertising has the potential to promote the importance of women in leadership positions, challenge societal norms, and encourage women’s active participation in politics.
Research by Okoye and Umar (2024) indicates that political advertising targeted at women can increase their political awareness and encourage greater participation in the political process. This study aims to explore the role of political advertising in encouraging women’s participation in leadership in Igabi LGA.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite strides in gender equality, women’s participation in leadership roles in Nigerian politics remains low. Igabi LGA is no exception, where women are underrepresented in political offices and decision-making processes.
Musa and Adamu (2023) argue that political advertising targeting women is critical to increasing their participation in leadership roles. However, there is limited research on the effectiveness of such advertising in Igabi LGA, where cultural barriers and limited access to media may pose challenges. This study seeks to address this gap by examining the role of political advertising in encouraging women’s participation in leadership.
